Hi all,
A smattering of observations of note over the past seven days for me included:
- 2 Upland Sandpipers, Grasshopper Sparrows, etc, Kennebunk Plains, 6/5 (with Birds on Tap - Roadtrip! tour group...although the Coyote that treed a Gray Squirrel in the middle of the plains did steal the show).
- 7+ Philadelphia Vireos, Grafton Notch State Park, 6/6.
- 1 pair MERLIN, occupied nest, Portland, 6/7 (with Jeannette). After suspecting urban breeding in Portland for the last few years, I have been working to confirm them, and finally did with a female on the nest and the male perched nearby in a large tree in a small front yard. First Portland breeding record?
- all five swallows (Tree, Barn, Cliff, Northern Rough-winged, and lots of Banks), Durham River Park, Durham, 6/9.
- 1 (maybe the second as well) KING RAIL, Eldridge Road, Moody Point, Wells, 6/10 (1:10pm to 1:40pm with a client).
- 1 female Red-breasted Merganser, Webhannet Drive, Wells, 6/10 (with client).
- 4 Fish Crows, Wells Harbor, 6/10 (with client).
And a phone-scoped video of the LITTLE EGRET from late this morning:
