Re: [Maine-birds] King Rail

Interesting to hear the "grunt" call between 3-4 pm today. More clappering between 4-5, by my ear. I assume that one view of the rail appearing orangey and another appearing dark was the effect of light. Or the two different birds? Too early for a juv.
Thank you for the sparrow, Sean. Neat bird.
The many flights over and around of 3 vocal Willets were an added delight.
Thank you all for this rail find, in Wells, and the detailed info about it. My only other viewing of a King Rail was in New York State at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge west of Syracuse, NY.

King Rail is still in same area. Beautiful looks at this lifer.. Also great viewing for Nelson's Sparrows who also gave many vocalizations.
