[Maine-birds] Recent Bangor Birds: Snowy Egrets and White-winged Scoter

Good morning everyone,

I thought I'd send a quick message to catch up with a couple recent sightings in and around Bangor.

On July 28, while birding at Penjajawoc Marsh, I looked up at one point to see two white egrets flying directly overhead. Even more interesting was that one was a lot smaller than the other. I sent the word out to local birders that a Great and Snowy Egret were flying south from the marsh. Not surprisingly, the egrets landed at the Essex Woods marsh, where they've since been joined by at least one more bird of each species. They all continue to be seen at the marsh. Yesterday, while checking Cove St. in Brewer for shorebirds during the rising tide, a stunning drake White-winged Scoter swam into view from downriver. Did not expect that! Checklist: http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist/S30989217

Good birding!
