Hi all,
Jenny and I were on our way to Fortunes Rocks for some morning birding
when we paused to count Wild Turkeys on Oak Ridge Road. I stopped
again to check feeders at the next house (158 Oak Ridge Rd.) and was
shocked to see a SUMMER TANAGER ~40' from the road.
The bird flew across the road and hung out for a while in a nearby Oak
tree close to Split Rock Lane (private drive), then moved to a nearby
Apple tree to eat some Asiatic Bittersweet fruit, and finally returned
to the suet feeder. The bird gave several three-note "pittituk" calls
during our observation.
