This morning's 3 hour stint from 6-9 AM produced
a fairly steady stream of Red-throated Loon (71) and
Long-tailed Duck (110). Among the 29 species seen
were 24 Snow Bunting. Here's a link to eBird:
https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S49773313
Our cumulative waterbird season total is approaching 102,000 !
To provide a bit of perspective that amounts to
~326 birds per hour of observation.
By comparison the Cadillac Mountain hawk watch = 7.8 hawks per hour.
Where would you rather spend your time? (Attempt at levity).
Both counts are projects of the Schoodic Institute Bird Ecology Program.
