Bradbury Mountain State Park
Pownal, Maine, USA
Visitors:
8 people stopped by the Hawkwatch today.
Weather:
A breezy start to the day settled down in late morning, only to pick up again for the afternoon. Strong SE winds were challenging as far as keeping items pinned down. Skies were overcast with temperatures not budging much from 50F. A few sprinkles here and there with some drizzle finally gave way to a steadier light rain by 3:45EDT when the count was ended early.
Raptor Observations:
7 hours of counting; 7 migrant raptors. Local activity was mostly limited to a Broad-winged pair, Bald Eagle pair, and some Turkey Vultures out on a stroll.
Non-raptor Observations:
27 species were observed from the summit today. Our first of year Blackburnian Warbler zipped by. Birds deemed migrating were limited to: 61 Double-crested Cormorants 4 Yellow-rumped Warblers 3 Red-winged Blackbirds 2 Tree Swallows 2 American Goldfinch 1 Great Blue Heron 1 Common Loon
Predictions:
We will be stuck in this stubborn gross pattern for at least the next 2 days. Chance of rain showers and southeast to east winds. See you on Friday.
