Visitors:
44 visitors on this Mother's Day.

Weather:
Sunny with some beautiful 'mares tail which disappeared quickly, leaving mostly blue sky. Winds were troublesome today with gusts coming in from the WNW mostly. Temps were much cooler today and in the mid 60's.

Raptor Observations:
Very few birds were migrating, displaying or foraging today. It was tough to find any winged creatures putting their abilities to use. The afternoon hours had a little more activity from the local TV's and 'tails. Our local Coop was seen close to the summit giving a songbird a ride to the woods further south. That's three songbirds that have been permanently relocated from the summit this season, which I have seen. In the afternoon light we got a great view of a female Northern Harrier with a pretty full crop as she swung around the mountain.

Non-raptor Observations:
Another very quiet day at the summit. There were some birds foraging in the Oaks but not spending much time or energy belting out song. I did manage to spot a Red-eyed Vireo and a Bay-breasted Warbler to add to the list for the season. Later in the day, Derek caught some movement and a flight-call of a Cape May Warbler which spent a little time in the canopy of an Oak long enough for us all to admire this spectacular little bird. 25 species were seen or heard today. Northbound birds included: 13 Tree Swallows 2 Chimney Swifts 2 Brown-headed Cowbirds 1 American Goldfinch 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler

Predictions:
The big finale. Were looking at partly cloudy skies and temps in the 70's. Winds should be more from the W and maybe a little WSW at about 10-15mph. I hope we can finish better than today, which I think is likely. Famous last words
