Visitors:
I finally realized it is school vacation week. The summit has been busy with a lot of families coming and going from the mountain. 33 visitors today.

Weather:
We're in a nice stretch of weather at the moment. It was very warm all day, in the 50's but that is from the shade. There was not a cloud in sight for the first hour or two of the count. Scattered clouds filled in as the day progressed but we caught enough breaks to stay mostly in the sun and warmth. Winds were light and mostly from the W and WNW. Visibility was a little tough in the first half with a lot of heat shimmer and a slight haze.

Raptor Observations:
Birds are still coming through but it was hard to spot them today, especially before we had a few clouds. With a light WNW wind, birds were being pushed further toward the coast in the morning. Just about all the birds today were at our detection limits, and anyone without a scope likely didn't even see the majority of what was counted. Birds were either far away or extremely high overhead. Kestrels today looked to be finding food while traveling N, often putting the brakes on to grab a snack.

Non-raptor Observations:
Golden-crowned Kinglests were all around the summit this morning along with a few Pine Warblers, which added some nice new colors to our day. Bird song seemed subdued today. 22 species were seen or heard today.

Predictions:
Tomorrow looks very similar to today with plentiful sun and a light wind from the NNW. We may see a SW breeze briefly in the afternoon. Spotting birds may prove challenging again and birds may be getting pushed away from the mountain.
