Hi all --
Had a bit of flex time today in and around work. Short stops and drive-by sightings from today:
Peregrine Falcon on the old Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Hancock County early this morning before work got underway. The bridge is being dismantled at a steady rate, but the two towers are still standing. This time, the bird was perched on the Verona Island side tower.
Pied-billed Grebe at the Toddy Pond outlet in Orland this afternoon.
Am. Kestrel scolding and chasing a crow at the McLain School, Summer Street, Rockland, midday.
3 Red-throated Loons scoped at mid-river from Sandy Point Beach park, Stockton Springs. Scope was essential for this ID. Also here, at least 4 D-c Cormorants already stationed on their future nest sites in the old pier pilings. The loons were near the mid-river reef, looking NE toward Verona.
2
Killdeer at the Knox County Regional Airport, Owls Head.
Cheers,
Craig K
