On a walk down my street, I found 3 male Purple Finches, my first all year. Looking up, I noticed a good hawk flight going on (I bet they'll have a great day on Bradbury Mt today). 4 American Kestrels, 1 Merlin. 3 Osprey, 2 Turkey Vultures, 1 each of Red-tailed, Cooper's and Sharp-shinned Hawk and my FOY Broad-winged hawk all passed overhead this morning, along with 8 Glossy Ibis and 3 Tree Swallows. Swamp Sparrows are back and singing from the marshy area behind my house. A soaring Double-crested Cormorant, taking advantage of the great thermals, initially gave me pause as it looked eerily similar to a soaring Anhinga, only slightly bulkier.
