Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end  time: 11:45:00
Total observation time: 3.75 hours

Official Counter:        Katrina Fenton

Observers:

Visitors:
13. The approaching storm was unable to dissuade some hardy hikers.

Weather:
Thickly overcast skies spat a few ice pellets in the morning, warming up
for the upcoming storm. Temperatures hovered just above freezing, with a
few puffs of wind out of the east. Around 12:30, a veil of sleet slid
across the landscape, blotting out Portland, then Yarmouth, before reaching
the summit fifteen minutes later.

Raptor Observations:
Not many raptors considered migrating today. The local birds were slightly
more active, Cooper's Hawks hunted the mountainside and a Bald Eagle fished
some distant body of water. The Turkey Vulture gang visited from the pines
below the rock face, then flew in to check out the board while the counter
was getting the temperature.

Non-raptor Observations:
A few non-raptors were heading north:

duck sp.- 2  Common Loon- 2
Double-crested Cormorant- 2  European Starling- 7  American Robin- 35
Dark-eyed Junco- 3

Predictions:
Tommorrow looks like it will be a vast improvement over today. Overcast
morning skies will develop some sunny breaks. The wind will be fairly
light, decreasing throughout the day and shifting from the northwest to the
southwest by late afternoon. At least this is the current weather
prediction, we'll see if they get it right this time. In any case, there
should be birds ready to move after today's weather.
