that would be Garter Snake...(sorry!) It was happily zig-zagging along the road and then into a drainage basin. Most notable birds were the song sparrows singing about every 50 feet! Tree swallows and phoebes were out as well. I was a bit surprised to see a flock of 20 purple sandpipers (thought they'd be gone by now), got a FOY brown headed cowbird (6) but all the rest were usual suspects. Still, a gorgeous day to walk the island. --
