[Maine-birds] Phippsburg SNEGs, BKingfish, Trees

Phippsburg, Maine Map 6 totman Cove
today,
Just had two Snowy egrets fly by, FOY seen in this cove
Weird behavior: Tree swallows busy with bluebird box on the end of my pier. I get one, sometimes two nesting a year in that box, sticks 120feet out into ocean from shore. Oddly there are also a mated pair of Herring gulls that 'live' there. They also nest successfully somewhere unknown to me. But they bring fledglings to the pier every year. The Trees and gulls cohabit-ate merrily even though the gulls could trash to nest box to get swallow chicks and eggs if they wanted to. This has been going on for at least 4 years. A Belted Kingfisher perched down there as is their habit when the swallows aren't here having migrated one way or the other. this time, the swallows were (5-6 of them) there checking out the box and pummeled the kingfisher until it took off. Poor thing was all puffed up trying to defend itself against the beat down before it left. Lots of noise, too. The gulls just sat there on the gallows frame, placidly watching the show. Curious.
Two neighbors have reported migratory bluebirds in past four days
