There was a small group of Piping Plovers present on the beach at Popham this morning. Eight (8) counted at one time, which total may have included a solo bird seen earlier. These birds favor the "new lagoon", a damp spot (at low tide) on the southern edge of New Sand Island.
Only other shorebird was a single Killdeer.--
