Hi birders;
Tuesday this week showed us 22 Red-Breasted Mergansers and a single Red-Necked Grebe at the “Keag” in S. Thomaston (the reversing falls). They were all actively feeding on something on the incoming tide.
Wednesday at our home feeder in Camden we had many Juncos, a Fox Sparrow, and two pairs of Song Sparrows. They attracted a Sharp-Shinned Hawk who just barely missed one of our Cardinals.
The Fox Sparrow is back today (Thursday).
We just returned from a three week trip to Florida, where we logged 153 species. We missed Caracara, which we usually find in South Fla. Now I know why; it seems the bird we should have seen has been spotted in Nova Scotia! (True story!)
Happy birding.
Glenn
