[Maine-birds] Towhee and ruffed grouse at Wells Reserve

I found a PAIR of Ruffed Grouse out in the open on the Pilger trail coming from Muskie and just before the fields at 11 this morning.  They kept popping in and out of the brush, and while I waited for them a gorgeous male Eastern Towhee crossed the boardwalk not five feet from me.  My earliest ever foy for them.

Also saw
Savannah sp. 4 near the farmhouse
Golden-crowned Kinglet pair
Kestrel male
Heard a piliated woodpecker
Phoebes - 6

And a few days ago, at the pond on the way to the beach, there was a female Kingfisher and two close flyovers by a beautiful gray ghost Harrier.

Good birding,
Monica in Kennebunk
