The Advertiser Democrat has reported that the West Paris Snowy Owl died on 6/23/14 at the Avian Haven Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center in Freedom. The bird had been apparently brought there after having been hit by a car. According to the center the bird only lived a couple of days and had a "heavy parasite load," feather lice, and fungus inside the body. The bird's body will go to a museum. I am wondering how many of the late lingering birds are sick birds.
