Carol McCluskey just posted on NHBirds that a dark-morph Gyrfalcon was seen today at Hampton State Park, which is very likely the bird that had been seen in Maine over the past week. That message is attached below.
Good birding,

Nearly froze scoping for it in the wind, but had no luck. I'm glad I took the coast road home, and stopped to check a few spots along the way.
As I checked at Hampton State Park Reservation ( not sure of the name, but it's the most southern Hampton area, along the river, right before you cross the bridge), a dark phase Gyrfalcon surprised me flying up from the general area. I had a good look at it, but it peeled off quickly. I tried to relocate it with the car, but couldn't refind it.
I note the Wells ME bird is apparently not being seen there now. I wonder if this is the same bird that's been drifting around the ME and NH coasts for little while. The Snowy Owl at Rye Harbor State Park was posed beautifully on a large driftwood log when I stopped.
I'll trade a King Eider for a Gyr any day! Hope it sticks around in NH for the weekend!
