Swarms of swallows and swifts were feasting on clouds of tiny insects
at the Sanford Lagoons this morning. Rough estimates are:
50 Tree Swallow
50 Bank Swallow
20 Barn Swallow
2 Cliff Swallow
50 Chimney Swift
Shorebirds present were:
2 Short-billed Dowitcher
1 Semipalmated Plover
1 Peep sp. (probably Least)
and larger numbers of Spotted Sandpipers and Killdeer
In the large marsh (north end of long pond), a vocal Marsh Wren continues.
