[Maine-birds] MACHIAS SEAL ISLAND REPORT

The warblers are coming, by reports out off Maine, but so far the PALM WARBLERS have this place to themselves.

One new arrival yesterday was the RUBY CROWNED KINGLET, with several hawking insects around the houses. One individual put on a particularly impressive demonstration, all the while displaying his brilliant crown.

Sparrows continue to dominate, although the mixture is changing. SONG SPARROWS are still plentiful, still fighting and frequently singing. However, WHITE THROATED SPARROWS are close to matching the Song's numbers, with the newly arrived SAVANNAH SPARROWS close to the majority.

Seabird traffic, both local and migratory, are little changed except the number of both CORMORANTS and both LOONS are picking up.
