Warblers are starting to trickle in. Last week I had yellow rumps and yesterday I had bl throated green, black throated blue, black and white, and ovenbird--all FOY. I had blue headed vireo first on Wednesday at a staff lunch outside in Belgrade, then yesterday in Sidney near my house. I also had purple martins on the Depot Road in Belgrade.
The kestrels are visible and fun to watch down at the Goodhue Farm.
In my yard, the bluebirds and tree swallows may still be duking it out. Every time I think they've got it sorted, I see the bluebirds defending their nest box. They have six eggs inside, and there are plenty of other nestboxes, so it's time for the tree swallows to let it go.
