In addition to nesting Black Terns, a pair of Sandhill Cranes are again in residence in the marsh on the north end of the pond. The cranes were calling loudly early, and then observed later in the morning, acting very secretively in the marsh. They are probably nesting.
Note that this location is not visible from Bog Road, but is best seen from canoe.
