Re: [Maine-birds] Re: Prothonotary, et al Hinckley

My parents live near Hinckley--where were you birding? Thanks.

Apologies to all who might have been awaiting word from me last evening on the location. My data plan is tapped out for the month and I wasn't anywhere near WiFi.

The location is the western edge of the upper pond toward the far corner near the swale with the alder shrubs. That is the original location of the initial sighting. It could well have chosen other surroundings of course. It was calling intermittently, that might be the best lead on it.

I was with a group of five that coalesced in the area of the PROW where it flew up to a branch directly over our heads and hung out in plain sight for a minute then back to cover on the bank of the pond.

I spent an additional 45 minutes and located other warblers including Yellow, Am. Redstart, Chestnut-sided, N. Parula, Tennessee, and most interestingly a Magnolia that had leucism in its crown which made the white eyebrow indiscernible. It didn't linger long enough for photos. I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else sees this if it stays put in the park for a time.
Migration hasn't run its course entirely! But, man, the birds are suddenly a lot harder to see.
Keep looking up! And under, and through, and around, etc....
