Visited the new-ish Wellness Trail at the Erickson Farm Preserve today. The hedgerows bordering the farm fields, which host crabapples and many fruit-bearing bushes, seem promising.
Turned up a Fox Sparrow among many robins and Song Sparrows, as well as Purple Finch, lots of goldfinches, and an Indigo Bunting. Will have to keep checking through the season for potential winter finches.
Also, some nice flyovers: lingering Turkey Vulture, adult Bald Eagle, and a calling adult Red-tailed Hawk (sounding exactly like the Bald Eagle shown on the current VW tv ad--imagine that!)
Good birding, all, in these last golden days of fall.
