Re: [Maine-birds] Mt. Desert Island: Goshawk, Titmice and a question

We've had 2 pair of tufted titmice here in Hulls Cove for a few weeks now. We are enjoying their visits as they are not common here on MDI. On the opposite end of the spectrum we are not enjoying the visits of a neighbor's gray cat. It is using our feeders as restaurants. It killed a junco last evening.

Hi all -- a neighbor in SW Harbor has had two Tufted Titmice at her feeder for a few days now. Not a very frequent species here on MDI.

Yesterday my wife and I flushed a N. Goshawk out from the woods along the Long Pond Fire Road. This is a nesting location from a few years back, and there is plenty of deep forest with light human visitation here.

And my question: a relative is seeking recommendations for binoculars under $200, and I'm coming up empty handed. My low end recommendations begin around $350. Any suggestions are welcome, off list.

Cheers,
Craig K
