Visitors:
7 people stopped to say hello and wish me luck. A couple people though they might return for the Feathers Over Freeport event this coming weekend.

Weather:
I was caught by one of my bosses, playing hooky this morning at a local coffee shop. I was soon forgiven however since visibility from the summit was about 200ft. I officially started the count at noon, in the mist, but it wasn't until about 1:30pm when the fog started to lift. A small light breeze picked up later in the day, from the east and east-southeast. A couple of holes opened in the clouds momentarily, allowing a modicum of sunshine to filter through. The air remained saturated all day and temps climbed to the 60s.

Raptor Observations:
I didn't get completely shut out today, so that was a plus. The fog lifting was akin to the opening of a starting gate at a horse race. Birds seemed to race skyward, to be the first to display over their territory. The showboating continued for the rest of the day.

Non-raptor Observations:
31 species were heard or seen from the mountain today, including a Blue-headed Vireo and a Pine Warbler, both of which perched out in plain sight, providing a splash of color on this grey day.

Predictions:
There is a chance we could see some scattered thunderstorms in the morning hours. Skies should be partly cloudy and temperatures may get into the upper 60s. Winds should remain light, from the south southeast, and maybe a little southwest if we're lucky. The weekend looks somewhat promising for raptor migration. Let's hope birds are low and close for all of the onlookers.
