Hi all,
My observations of note over the past seven days included:
- 12 Eastern Whip-poor-wills, dusk at the Kennebunk Plains, 7/8 (with Phil McCormack).
- Telos Road - Nesowadnahunk Campground Road - Harvester Road, 7/10 (with Jeannette):
1 AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKER.
1 Black-backed Woodpecker.
1 hen Spruce Grouse with 5 young.
2 Gray Jays
1 Boreal Chickadee
1 Fox Sparrow
abundant singing and displaying White-winged Crossbills
widespread smattering of Red Crossbills
- Baxter State Park, 7/11 (with Jeannette):
Late start and limited birding/hiking to trails away from the usual birding hotspots, nonetheless, White-winged Crossbills were widespread and Red Crossbills were scattered about again.
-1 Whimbrel (FOY), Pine Point, Scarborough, 7/14.
And finally, here's a link to my Little Egret photos, and video. I have been asked by several people about the yellow lores, and I discussed the issue (which I don't really think is an issue at all) in the captions in the photo suite:
