Re: [Maine-birds] Abridged summary of maine...@googlegroups.com - 2 updates in 2 topics

There are three ways to see the Red-billed Tropicbird that I know of. One, you go with us out of Old Quarry Ocean Adventures on one of our scheduled Puffin Trips (every Tuesday). You can inquire about other dates and if we have enough people we can do other dates. This leaves out of Stonington. I of course think this is the best and most logistical way to do it. Second, is to go with John Drury out of Vinalhaven. He is a top notch ornithologist and if we want a great personalized pelagic trip, he is great. It gets tricky planning a trip out to Vinalhaven with the ferry and the trip though and may be more expensive, but I am not sure. Third is the mail boat which goes on Sundays I think, but they haven't had much luck locating the bird lately. If you want more details about the tropicbird, you can e-mail info@oldquarry.com

Hello.  How would one go about seeing the Red-billed Tropicbird?  I am the person who posted here a few weeks ago.  I am from IL, and will be in Maine in 3 weeks.  Will be in Boothbay Harbor, and also in Acadia, plus driving up along the coastal areas.  Is there a certain boating company that would be best to contact?  This looks like an amazing place to see.

Thank you for any info.  Have a good day!
