[Maine-birds] Big Sit! reminder and State Bird question

Hi all-

First, just a reminder that I'll be hosting the Big Sit at Gilsland Farm TOMORROW, Saturday the 13th between at least 6am and 6pm. There are hints of a good flight tonight, so hopefully tomorrow will be exciting! Stop by any time, the event is free and open to all.

Second, I am doing some research into Maine's adoption of the Black-capped Chickadee as our state bird. Several online sources claim that the 1927 legislation was spurred by a letter from a William D. Hall of Castine. I am trying to find information about or, better, a copy of that letter. Neither the Maine State Archives nor the State Law Library have any information. If you know, please contact me offline at nlund AT maineaudubon.org

Thanks!
Nick
