My mother, who lives on the Megunticook River here in Camden, reports that
the first Buffleheads of the season have arrived: one hen and three drakes.
She also says a family of Wood Ducks continues to periodically feed under
their bird feeder, as it has for most of the summer.
At our house downriver, closer to downtown Camden, a Carolina Wren was
calling a few days ago—not a daily visitor, but definitely continues to be
a regular one.

We have had a Ruby-throated Hummingbird in Whitneyville for the last two
days, Oct. 13-14. An immature male we believe, it looks like it may have
some dark feathers on the gorget. We have been keeping nectar out just in
case of a straggler like this..hope it gets going South soon though!

The more we look at this picture the more we think it is more than likely a
female?
