Our other exciting find (for us) was 25 Ruddy Turnstones in basic plumage, at the boat launch in Biddeford Pool. They were barely visible, being so well camouflaged on the stones.
Out on the marsh off Mile Stretch Rd. in Biddeford Pool (from the old Hattie's), was a Willet. Sadly there was a Common Loon far up on the dry marsh that appeared to be dead. It pulled itself up and tried to get toward the water as we approached, but couldn't. We went far around the other way, but it kept calling. Anything can be done?? There were 2 other C. Loons in the "Pool".
Other sightings were phoebes, Song Sparrows, and Surf Scoters in various places, as well as Hooded Mergansers at the end of Granite Point Rd, in Biddeford Pool.
We found an Am. Tree Sparrow on West St., in Biddeford, but had no luck locating a snipe, though there are many spots of suitable habitat.
Great day!
Barbara

Now that I'm back home, I had time to look at the photos I took of the Oystercatcher we (Jay Adams and I) found at 10:55 a.m. and for anyone who wanted more detail.
The bird was near the Sky Harbor Road loop. I took the photos from the small concrete bench area on the ocean side. He was still there when we left after about 10 minutes.
