Last year’s Audubon trip to the Golden Road west of Baxter produced hundreds of crossbills and a thousand siskins. Today? Zero. The cold and wind didn’t help, but we didn’t even get a fly over.
But we had a good time anyway, including a light phase Rough-legged Hawk on the Telos Road seen by a few of us and an entertaining pair of Gray Jays on the Harvester Road. Lots of Common Goldeneyes along the entire Penobscot from Ripogenus to Bangor. An early Green-winged Teal seen on the Penobscot in Greenbush.
