HI folks,
I had an interesting experience at my home on Eight Rod Road in Augusta.
I arrived home late Monday night and was greeted by a house wren singing about 10 feet from me (~9:20 pm). I went out on the back deck and started calling saw-whet owls. After about five minutes, I stopped and a couple of minutes later one started vocalizing from about 200 ft. away, giving an odd 5-noted rendition over and over. There were two other saw-whets giving regular vocalizations calling from farther away.
On Sunday morning when I left to go Downeast, the first bird I was greeted with when I stepped out the door was a yellow-rumped warbler singing away.
Great time of year.
Happy birding.
