I assisted with some scouting for an upcoming photography tour of the Moosehead area today. Rain kept things quiet and dreary, and I lamented a poor list for the day. Then, over supper, I counted up 19 warblers today. Really? 19? That included one Cape May near Second Roach Pond. But no Bay-breasteds in their usual places yet. No Swainson’s Thrushes yet. No Red-eyed Vireos yet. No Alder Flycatchers yet. In fact, no flycatchers at all except for Least and Phoebe. Come on, Portland, send ‘em all north.
