Re: [Maine-birds] red-headed woodpecker on MDI

Hello,

The Red-headed Woodpecker on Mount Desert Island has moved on from Salsbury
Cove where it was associated with a Bird Feeder since December 30, 2012.

I spoke to the owner and he is very sad that this colorful bird apparently
has moved on. For almost 6 months and through some of Maine's worst winter
weather, the Red-headed Woodpecker took up residency in an Aspen tree and
hunkered down to wait out the very cold January and February winter.
Fortunately for the woodpecker, the food selection was gourmet with a
choices of high energy foods.

I will miss the RHWP and hope that it found it's way home.

Michael

The woodpecker is back this morning. Trying to get a decent photo but he
isn't very cooperative. I did get some audio. He likes the dead poplar trees
in my yard.
