Hi all:
I'm relaying this message for Peter Vickery, who called this evening from Seawall Beach (Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area) in Phippsburg.
Peter reports that this afternoon there were staggering numbers of birds feeding off Seawall Beach, with more than 180 Red-throated Loons (90% in basic plumage) and 800 Common Terns (plus just 1 Arctic) feeding in the tidal rips along the beach and in the mouth of the outlet between Seawall Beach and Popham Beach. These are very impressive numbers for both species. Might be worth a stop if you are in the area!
Good birding to all,
Jan
