[Maine-birds] Red-necked phalaropes, Eastport

I had the pleasure of co-leading a a sea bird trip aboard the Lady H from Eastport yesterday (5/26) as part of the Downeast Spring Birding Festival.  We only ventured to East Quoddy Head Lighthouse, Campobello, NB( 5 miles) and back due to rough seas beyond the islands. Birding highlights included great looks at 11 spiffy red-necked phalaropes in breeding plumage and two razorbill.  We also saw black guillemot, common eider, black scoter, Bonaparte's gull, bald eagle, etc.  Non-bird observations included gray seal, harbor seal, harbor porpoise, and patches of blue sky that were previously unseen during the weekend and very much appreciated. It was a fun trip with a great group of people.

Cheers,

Chris
