A group of four Small egrets on the north side of Rt 209, where one first gets a view of the marsh coming from the north, was foraging in a shallow marsh surface pool this morning in the light rain. One of these had RED lores.
But another one, perhaps a touch larger, had two very long and flexible plumes extending almost to the back. However, this bird had yellow lores. I took many photos, and a video, in the dark conditions, and need to study these before declaring anything. The other three had fuzzy rear-heads. --
