[Maine-birds] MDI fall birds, fyi

Hi all -- A few Mt. Desert Island notes from the past weekend, fyi.

Yard birds yesterday included a Savannah Sparrow and Brown Creeper, also one American Kestrel flew over SW Harbor (got a jump on today's marathon, apparently). One Song Sparrow sings from a perch repeatedly each day, and now one W-t Sparrow is joining in sporadically.

On a walk with Billy Helprin today that included Ship Harbor, Wonderland and the shoreline in between, our best birds of the day included a Palm Warbler, N. Gannet, Spotted Sandpiper, and still a decent count of Laughing Gulls flying by and perched in the distance at Seawall. En route home, I stopped and single-counted 37 Laughers. This location seems like an annual pocket for late-lingering Laughing Gulls. I've noted them well into October several years running, and even November one year in this specific location (Seawall Picnic Area).

Best,
Craig K
