[Maine-birds] Fox sparrows, grackles, great blue heron, other signs of spring in Lubec

Overnight, the birding situation in Lubec (eastern Washington) has changed dramatically. Flocks of robins and juncos are lining the roadsides, feeding in the bare areas between the melting snow, along with song and fox sparrows. Although robins and juncos have been around all winter (along with probably a few song sparrows), these numbers and this behavior are decidedly different. I have seen more fox sparrows today than ever in my life. Also saw a great blue heron flying across one of the creeks as you drive up North Lubec Rd.

On the flip side, the common goldeneyes and long-tailed ducks that I saw in the bay all winter seem to be gone, although I did see some lingering buffleheads yesterday.
