Weather:
Winds started out this morning out of the east, but swung around eventually
to the south by mid-afternoon. The sky was mostly cloudy, with some sunny
breaks. The temperature peaked at 53F, but a fairly steady breeze kept a
chill in the air.
Raptor Observations:
A nice flight of Broad-winged Hawks took place today. No large kettles, but
a steady flight kept us on our toes. Local birds were not very active,
until late afternoon when one of the Broad-winged Hawk pairs became more
visible.
Non-raptor Observations:
30 species were seen or heard from the summit today. Other birds deemed
migrating were few, but included:
33 Double-crested Cormorants
6 Tree Swallows
2 European Starlings
1 Great Blue Heron
Predictions:
Looks like east and southeasterly winds in the 10mph range will be on tap
again tomorrow under an overcast sky. Rain will be moving in in the
afternoon, so it remains to be seen if we see a flight ahead of this
approaching system.
