Re: [Maine-birds] MACHIAS SEAL ISLAND REPORT

Two previous reports, one from England 4 - 6 years ago in June or July.  One purportedly taken from the mouth of the Kennebec and used by Audubon in his birds of America.  Some uncertainties on provenance.  All will become clear once we publish the eternal book.

This is pretty amazing.  How often are Tufted Puffins found in the Atlantic?  I can’t recall hearing of one in our ‘pond’.

I've posted a few more T. Puffin shots at http://www.pbase.com/lightrae/naturenb
They aren't great quality but they do show the feather tufts and a comparison with an A. Puffin.

I haven't seen it this morning but with poor light and thousands of birds in constant motion one gets cross-eyed rather quickly.
