[Maine-birds] Hummingbirds and Cormorants

Wed. 9/24/14
Four immature or female Ruby-throated Hummingbirds working flowers at Thuya Gardens in Northeast Harbor (Mt. Desert I.) today.
Several vees of Double-crested Cormorants passing south between Schoodic Pt. and MDI this morning.
Fourteen Canada Geese that were totally hidden in the grass were stirred up by a Coast Guard maintenance crew that landed at the Egg Rock lighthouse in Frenchman Bay this morning.
A couple of Gannets passed by the mouth of Frenchman Bay this afternoon. The first seen since early July. In spite of regular schools of herring that have been attracting flocks of gulls and up to 20 Harbor Porpoise off and on in Sep. the Gannets have ignored the bay area.
