Hi all,
Just a few additional sightings of note from me over the past seven days included:
- 2 Semipalmated Sandpipers and 1 Red-eyed Vireo, Wolfe's Neck Farm, Freeport, 10/18 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk Group).
- 1 Osprey, over Hedgehog Mountain Park, Freeport, 10/22.
- 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker, the first in over a year in our Pownal yard, 10/22 to present.
- 200 Common Grackles, our yard in Pownal, 10/23.
The "Greater Yarmouth Goose Fields" Update:
- 1 CACKLING GOOSE continues through week's end, most often seen in the pastures of Springbrook Farm along Greely Rd in Cumberland.
- 1 LEUCISTIC CANADA GOOSE, Greely Rd, 10/24. Photos here: http://www.facebook.com/Freeportwildbird/photos/a.764276326935657.1073741835.198877036808925/930506530312635/?type=3&theater
- Canada Goose numbers decreased early in the week, but began to rebound by Friday as the storm finally departed. My high count this week was 718 today, the 24th.
- large numbers of Ring-billed Gulls, with scattered Herring Gulls, were taking advantage of the saturated fields during the week, as were small numbers of Mallards and American Black Ducks. A handful of Green-winged Teal were often present in the pond at Springbrook Farm, and at least one Killdeer continues at Springbrook Farm.
