This fairly awful weather has kept me mostly indoors the last few days. While I've enjoyed staying warm and making more and more pots of coffee, I was excited to get back out in the field this morning. Apparently the weather was worth it from a birding perspective, because in the span of 5 minutes and 10 yards, I encountered both a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and a Northern Waterthrush! They were both located roughly 30 yards from the Garden Way entrance.
-- Both are very late and the gnatcatcher is the first I've seen in Maine. Sure makes me wonder what else is in the area today - hope I can get back out!
