[Maine-birds] Re: Northern Maine Birds: Cattle Egret, Iceland Gull

The Cattle Egret was still hanging out in Presque Isle this afternoon. I wonder if these northern Maine egrets are not the remnants of the flock seen in upstate NY a couple weeks ago.  With the exception of a bird out on Nantucket, there doesn't seem to be any others around New England/Maritimes recently.

Put a couple pics on the my Flickr page:

(The egret is the one without spots.)

A Cattle Egret is hanging out at the Sweetser Farm off the Higgins Road in Presque Isle.  The bird apparently showed up last weekend (at the same time that another was reported from St Agatha).  I braved the deluge this AM and stopped by and found it hunkered down under a cow...  Will post some photos tonight.

Also too, I saw my first Iceland Gull of the season at Collins Pond in Caribou this AM.  It was still quite dark and gloomy so no pics of the first fall bird.

Large numbers of Canada Geese took advantage of the northeasterly winds and headed out of here over the past two days.  None the less Collins Pond still had a good sized flock this AM...  Nothing else exceptional.

Cheers
