[Maine-birds] Additional Highlights This Week and Goose Fields Update, 11/8-14.

Hi all,

Some more of my sightings of note over the past seven days included:

- 1 ad. Red-shouldered Hawk, Hedgehog Mountain Park, Freeport - long-overdue addition to my Patch List here, which is now 147 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).

- 2 Red-bellied Woodpeckers, Sebago Lake State Park, 11/11 (with Jeannette).

- 102 Horned Larks, Rte 237 sod farm, Gorham, 11/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 pair NORTHERN SHOVELERS continue at Deering Oaks Park, Portland, 11/11 (with Jeannette).

- 1 "Western" Palm Warbler, Fitzgerald Preserve, Brunswick, 11/13.

- 1 Greater Yellowlegs, Wiscasset Harbor, 11/13.

- 1 Barrow's Goldeneye (first of fall), 1 "Western" Palm Warbler, and 3 Northern Pintails, Great Salt Bay Farm Preserve, Damariscotta, 11/13.

- 1 "GAMBELL'S" WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, 1 continuing PRAIRIE WARBLER, 1 Field Sparrow, 1 Common Yellowthroat, etc, Private property in Cape Elizabeth, 11/14.

- 1 ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, Sawyer St, South Portland, 11/14.

- 1 Winter Wren, Trout Brook Preserve, South Portland, 11/14.

- 1 GRAY CATBIRD, Joe's Pond Park, South Portland, 11/14.

- scattered small flocks of Common Grackles and handfuls of Red-winged Blackbirds continued throughout the week.

And the "Greater Yarmouth Goose Fields Update" for the week:

- the adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE continued through week's end, usually at Thornhust Farm (photos at link above).

- the leucistic Canada Goose continues through week's end, also usually at Thornhurst.

- Canada Goose numbers remain below-average, but rebuilt to 761 by today (11/14).

- 1 Killdeer was at Thornhurst Farm on 11/10.
