This time of year can be lots of fun just driving around the Maine woods.
Four of us spent the day on the roads between Rockwood and Seboomook, west
of Moosehead. As expected, finches remain few, though we did have three
Pine Grosbeaks in the road. The highlights of the day were the
particularly friendly Gray Jays. We tallied ten without trying. One family
of four came right in to investigate us. One pair rushed in as soon as
they heard a car approaching, and demanded food. I posted the jays to
http://www.facebook.com/MaineBirdingTrail.
