[Maine-birds] Additional Highlights This Week and Goose Fields Update, 11/15-21

Hi all,

Additional observations, not previously reported here, of note for me over the past seven days included:

- 142 American Coots, 24 Ruddy Ducks, 1 Greater Scaup, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, etc, Chickawaukie Lake, Rockland, 11/16 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Thompson Meadow Rd, Rockland, 11/16 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 5 Green-winged Teal, Thomaston harbor, 11/16 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 38 Snow Buntings, Clarry Hill, 11/16 (with Kristen Lindquist).
- 1 Chipping Sparrow, feeders here at the store, 11/17.
- 1 BLACKPOLL WARBLER, Crescent Beach SP, Cape Elizabeth, 11/18 (with Jeannette).
- 7 species sparrows, including 2 Chipping and 2 Swamp, Private property in Cape Elizabeth, 11/18 (with Jeannette).
- 1 BLACKPOLL WARBLER, Pond Cove, Cape Elizabeth, 11/18 (with Jeannette).
- 1 Hermit Thrush, Trout Brook Preserve, 11/18 (with Jeannette).
- 1 Chipping Sparrow, Eastern Promenade, Portland, 11/20.
- 2 Hermit Thrushes, Western Promenade, Portland, 11/20.

And the "Greater Yarmouth Goose Fields Update:"
- the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE continues through week's end, most often at Thornhurst Farm on Rte 115 in North Yarmouth.
- the leucistic Canada Goose continues, with all sightings this week also at Thornhurst.
- Canada Goose numbers fell early this week, as many birds departed for warmer climes. However, a new pulse of birds yielded this week's high count of 719 on the 20th.
- 1 adult Red-shouldered Hawk flew over Woodville Rd on the 15th (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group), and 5 Common Grackles were along Winn Rd on the 20th.
