[Maine-birds] Schoodic Point sea watch

The peregrine duo returned this morning, snatching a passerine from out over the water
and brought it to shore. The male peregrine made the grab but there was no exchange while
I watched the birds fly out of sight. Could not ID the prey item.
A single female merlin also visited the sea watch, perching for
a couple of minutes on a nearby spruce tree.

Very sporadic seabird migration today. Calm winds, sunshine. 6:30-8:30.

19 Am. Crow (migrating over water)
16 Common Loon
13 Common Eider
7 DC Cormorant
3 Co. Goldeneye
2 Long-tailed Duck
and one each of RB Merganser, B. Scoter, and N. Gannet.

Others: Snow Bunting 2, Pine Siskin 25, Am. Goldfinch 8, H. Woodpecker 1.

At Frazer Point just after dawn a lone male RW Blackbird was traveling (loosely) with a dozen A. Robin.
Arey Cove opposite entrance to SERC campus - 7 RN Grebe.
An adult Cooper's Hawk was gaining lift near the point (on campus of SERC) as I arrived at office after sea watch.
